ZAMBIA
Travelling to Zambia? Here is some information that might make your trip an unforgettable one.
The Victoria Falls was named in honour of Queen Victoria by David Livingstone, the Scottish missionary extraordinary and explorer when he visited on November 16, 1855. The Victoria Falls grandeur is mystic and awe-inspiring sight. It stands to reason why Dr. Livingstone ably summed it up as he wrote the famous words, "...scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight"
However, long before Livingstone "discovered" the falls, the Kololo people living in the area in the 1800's called it 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' meaning 'the Smoke that thunders.' But the Toka Leya people of Chief Mukuni who live in the area today call the falls "shungu Na Mutitima." It was the noise from the cascading water and the rising mist that inspired the name.
Visit Zambia and you will discover why it is called
"Africa's best kept secret".
